Single-Lgbt
Single at 35, she became a mother after her second IVF attempt!
Ms. Chen, who lives in Taiwan, had always wanted a child. She loves children, and after experiencing a failed relationship, she once said: “I don’t have expectations for marriage, but I want my own child. I can’t wait any longer.” In 2023, at the age of 35, she welcomed a child entirely her own and named her Ava.
Before turning 35, Ms. Chen was a career-driven woman working in foreign trade. Her job occupied most of her life but also allowed her to build financial stability and gain experience. As she approached 35, the desire for a child grew stronger, prompting her to embark on the journey of IVF.
Through online research and careful selection, Ms. Chen found Uterus International Medical, learned about the entire IVF process, and, after thorough medical assessments, chose to work with us without hesitation. In February 2022, she completed sperm selection and egg retrieval, and underwent IVF procedures at an overseas fertility clinic. Unfortunately, during her first attempt, Ms. Chen caught a cold and the embryo was not strong enough to survive. On the second attempt, the doctor implanted another embryo, and her perseverance paid off—she became successfully pregnant.
Before delivery, Ms. Chen said: “In a society with biases, a woman giving birth alone may seem pitiful, but I didn’t feel that way at all. I felt comfortable and satisfied.”
The absence of a “complete” family does not prevent a woman from having a child as a single parent—what matters is whether she has fully considered the responsibility of nurturing a life. In many seemingly “complete” families, immature parents may not provide quality attention and care to their children. Therefore, being a single parent is just a formality; what truly matters for a child’s safety and happiness is the concrete family environment and the dedication of the parent.
