Solo woman undergoes IVF abroad: As a first-time mom, I’m fully prepared!
33-year-old Miss Liu from Taiwan is a typical representative of today’s era of solo parenthood. Independent, successful, and thoughtful, she has long dreamed of having her own child and has tirelessly worked toward that goal. However, her journey to motherhood was far from smooth.
Miss Liu once had a six-year relationship, but tragedy struck when her fiancé unexpectedly passed away just as they were about to marry. She remained single for several years, and just before turning 30, she suffered another setback when a medical condition forced the removal of both fallopian tubes—a devastating blow for someone who had always loved children. Determined not to settle for a conventional marriage, Miss Liu seriously began planning to have a child on her own. She started researching IVF technology, legal policies, and the associated costs, throwing herself into work to achieve financial independence in preparation for motherhood.
At 33, fully prepared, Miss Liu reached out to Uterus International Medical with her requirements. She faced two major challenges: advanced maternal age, which affected her egg quality, and choosing a suitable location and sperm donor. Having a 10-year US entry ban due to a past DUI, the US was not an option. After weighing technical expertise, doctor experience, and success rates, she chose a Southeast Asian country—a decision that also allowed her to take a short vacation and adjust her mindset.
In May 2023, Miss Liu flew to Southeast Asia. The clinic designed a tailored IVF plan, guiding her on daily care and ovarian preservation until all indicators met IVF standards. For sperm selection, she chose an elite Asian donor. By June, five embryos were created and tested; three were healthy—two girls and one boy. Miss Liu decided to transfer a female embryo.
The first transfer, unfortunately, failed. Following the doctor’s advice, she spent another month adjusting before attempting the second transfer. Fourteen days later, her HCG level was 47.61—confirming a successful pregnancy! In April 2024, Miss Liu’s little princess was born, passing all health assessments including height, weight, and other vital indicators.
In a mature and progressive society, women should have reproductive freedom—not being coerced to have children, and being able to choose motherhood on their own terms. A child brings joy and fulfillment to a family, and we are honored to witness the courage and maternal brilliance of every woman who bravely takes this path.
