Single-Lgbt
Through IVF, I became a single father—I feel incredibly fortunate!
“Two years have passed since I became a single dad through IVF. My little one is now two years old, life is simple and happy, and everything is going well.” — Mr. Wu
Mr. Wu, 34, is a highly successful professional working in finance. Unlike most people, he is attracted to men. In his younger years, he focused heavily on his career and never found a suitable partner, choosing to remain single. In 2022, he transformed into a single father—a journey that took three years of effort, with three failed IVF attempts before successfully bringing his son into the world.
Mr. Wu shared that his initial motivation to have a child came from his mother, who longed for a grandchild. Feeling the pressure of his parents’ expectations, he turned to IVF. After researching international regulations and evaluating various clinics, he was introduced to our services and signed an agreement. Due to his personal circumstances, he spent several months preparing his body before traveling to Southeast Asia in 2021 to begin the IVF process. Doctors created a plan tailored to him, and he successfully selected an appropriate egg donor and surrogate mother, resulting in embryos ready for transfer.
Unfortunately, the first three attempts at embryo transfer ended in failure: the first failed to implant, the second showed no heartbeat, and the third resulted in miscarriage. Finally, on the fourth attempt, he succeeded. His son was born in September 2022, weighing 3,480 grams. By December, Mr. Wu completed all the necessary paperwork and returned home with his son.
For Mr. Wu, becoming a single father began as a somewhat “impulsive decision,” but the moment he saw his son, he felt the weight of responsibility. Over the past two years, he has done everything possible to provide a nurturing environment for his child, personally caring for him whenever possible, learning how to be a better father. He said, “Being a parent is the hardest thing I’ve ever done—but also the most rewarding.”
