Brave Taiwanese couple welcomes a baby after their third surrogacy attempt
For Taiwanese couple Mr. G and Mrs. S, their surrogacy journey was far from easy from the start. Their first two surrogacy attempts ended in early miscarriages for unknown reasons. Although they were understandably disheartened, they decided to continue, and on the third attempt, the surrogate successfully became pregnant. When we shared this wonderful news with them, the joy and relief they felt were beyond words.
Even so, given the previous miscarriages, it was still too early to celebrate before the first screening, so we cautiously awaited the results. At the 12th week, the first genetic screening indicated a risk of Down syndrome. We recommended an amniocentesis to eliminate potential risks and ensure everything was normal.
Amniocentesis is an invasive procedure used to diagnose fetal chromosomal abnormalities and infections. The procedure carries a significant risk of miscarriage, and the mother typically requires specialized medical care and monitoring afterward. Naturally, Mr. G and Mrs. S were extremely anxious — worried both about the possibility of abnormalities in their child and about the surrogate mother experiencing complications. What we admired most was their ability to remain calm, focused, and to fully trust our guidance.
Fortunately, the amniocentesis was successful with no adverse effects, and the results showed the fetus was completely healthy. The second genetic screening at 17–18 weeks confirmed no additional risks. Their baby boy continued to grow steadily, patiently waiting for the moment he would meet his parents.

On June 8, 2023, the baby was born safely! We congratulate Mr. G and Mrs. S, this brave couple, and Uterus International Medical is proud to have been part of your journey.
