Second marriage and IVF joyfully welcome a baby boy!
For some people, getting pregnant comes naturally, but for others, relying solely on natural conception makes it impossible to have their own child. For 36-year-old Ms. Qiao, having a baby was a significant challenge. After trying to conceive for many years without success, she went through a divorce due to infertility and had previously attempted artificial insemination and IVF twice, all of which failed.
Ms. Qiao, from Nanjing, is now remarried to Mr. Xie. Her first marriage ended because they couldn’t have children; she was diagnosed with fallopian tube adhesions and underwent surgery to resolve them, but still couldn’t conceive. Her first husband could not accept a childless life, and to avoid holding him back, Ms. Qiao ultimately chose to divorce.
At 33, Ms. Qiao met her current husband, Mr. Xie. Although both were remarried, he treated her with love and respect and didn’t mind that she didn’t have children. Initially, they agreed not to have children, but as they got older, their desire to have a baby grew. After discussing it, Ms. Qiao and Mr. Xie decided to try IVF, but their two attempts in China ended in failure.
Disheartened, Ms. Qiao was ready to give up when a relative at a gathering told them about overseas IVF technologies and encouraged them to try abroad, mentioning that Thailand’s IVF techniques and blastocyst cultivation rates are internationally leading. Motivated, they decided to give it another try and, through the relative’s introduction, reached out to Uterus International Medical.
At 36, Ms. Qiao had already reached what is often called “advanced maternal age,” and her ovarian function had declined. Solving the egg issue was critical. Based on various examinations, the doctors customized an IVF plan specifically for her condition.
First stimulation cycle: 5 eggs retrieved, 1 fertilized; the embryo quality was poor, so the transfer was abandoned.
Second stimulation cycle: 10 eggs retrieved, resulting in 3 healthy embryos—2 XY and 1 XX.
Once suitable embryos were available, the transfer procedure began. The first transfer failed due to lack of implantation. On the second transfer, 14 days later, the pregnancy test came back positive. To confirm, Ms. Qiao visited the hospital the next day, and the result confirmed pregnancy!
In March 2024, Ms. Qiao and Mr. Xie welcomed their first son, named Nian Nian—a long-awaited and cherished gift. The couple said to their son: “We are so grateful that our lives now have you in it!”
