From Loss to Joy: An Overseas IVF Journey
Every family has different reasons for choosing a second or third child. Some want to give their first child a companion, some hope to have both a boy and a girl, and some simply wish for more people to care for them in old age. But the couple we are about to share chose a second child for a different reason: they were a blended family and wanted a child of their own.
Five years ago, 29-year-old Ms. Chen married Mr. Zhang, bringing along her 5-year-old daughter. The family lived in harmony, and the couple shared a loving relationship. Soon after, they were blessed with a child of their own. However, due to an unexpected incident, Ms. Chen suffered a miscarriage, losing the baby she carried. Following this, she was unable to conceive again. Three years of trying, including two years of IVF attempts and visits to major hospitals in her home country, ended in disappointment due to long waiting times and technical limitations.
At the age of 35, Ms. Chen turned her attention overseas. Through a friend’s recommendation, she connected with UT Uterus International Medical. After discussing the plan and related concerns with her husband, they decided to sign the contract the very next day. Before beginning the overseas IVF journey, the medical team at UT Uterus International Medical conducted thorough assessments and personalized treatments for both Ms. Chen and Mr. Zhang to ensure the highest chance of success.
After two months of careful preparation and body conditioning, Ms. Chen and Mr. Zhang began their IVF journey abroad. Thanks to prior medical records, the doctors were able to design a tailored ovarian stimulation plan on the first day. Nine eggs were retrieved, seven successfully fertilized, and after NGS screening, five blastocysts were deemed suitable for transfer. The couple decided to transfer one male embryo.
Following several months of rest and recovery back home, Ms. Chen underwent the embryo transfer. Ten days later, the pregnancy test was positive, but her hormone levels were initially low. Unfortunately, her hormone levels dropped further, resulting in a biochemical pregnancy.
Two months later, a second embryo transfer was arranged. This time, everything went smoothly. From the pregnancy test and HCG doubling to the NT scan, all results were positive. For Ms. Chen and Mr. Zhang, this overseas IVF journey became a profound experience of love and perseverance. Once stable, the couple returned home to prepare for the birth.
In March 2025, a crisp, joyful cry filled the maternity ward. Ms. Chen and Mr. Zhang welcomed their little angel, fulfilling a dream that had taken years of patience and hope.
